Cop slain by suspected rebels in Northern Samar clash

TACLOBAN CITY––Suspected rebels killed a policeman in an encounter Monday in Lapinig town, Northern Samar.

Lt. Kenneth Tad-awan and other police officers were on patrol operations at 6:40 a.m. in Look village when they encountered alleged New People’s Army members.

A firefight ensued that led to the recovery of explosive devices of the armed group.

Bloodstains were seen where the suspected rebels were positioned.
