PH logs 30,552 new COVID-19 cases — DOH
MANILA, Philippines — The Philippines on Saturday reported 30,552 cases of COVID-19, bringing the total caseload to 3,387,524, the Department of Health (DOH) reported.
Of the total number of cases, 280,619 or 8.3 percent of all infections are still tagged as active cases, but most of them only have mild or no symptoms at all at 98.3 percent.
DOH said of the 30,552 reported cases today, 28,926 or 95 percent occurred within the recent 14 days.
Most of the cases were from Region 4A with 5,991 or 21 percent of all cases; Metro Manila came at a close second at 5,989 or 21 percent of all infections.
There are 41,471 new reported recoveries, pushing the total of those who survived the disease to 3,053,499 or 90.1 percent of all cases.
Article continues after this advertisementThe total number of deaths is now at 53,406 or 1.58 percent of all infections after 97 new mortalities were logged.
The current positivity rate is 45.1 percent out of 68,049 tests, far from the World Health Organization ideal positivity rate of five percent.
Meanwhile, the global COVID-19 caseload is now at 346.5 million, including 5.55 million deaths, according to Johns Hopkins University Case Tracker.
