Isko Moreno reports ‘downtrend’ of COVID-19 cases in Manila
Manila Mayor Isko Moreno Domagoso on Friday reported that COVID-19 cases in the City of Manila continue to decline in recent days based on the latest data provided by the Manila Health Department (MHD) and the Manila Emergency Operations Center Covid-19 Monitoring (MEOC).
In his Capital Report aired over his official Facebook page, the Manila mayor expressed his thankfulness that Covid-19 cases in the city has been declining in recent days after a surge early this month.
MHD-MEOC data showed that from 3,150 cases last Wednesday (Jan. 19) and 2,486 cases on Thursday (Jan. 20), the number of Covid-19 infections in the city dropped to 2,046 cases (with 342 new active cases) as of 12 noon of Friday, January 21.
The number of recoveries on Jan. 21 also reached 913, bringing the overall total of recoveries to 98,271. Meanwhile, deaths due to Covid-19 has reached 1,810 as per data coming from MHD and MEOC.

Moreno maintained that through the combined efforts of the government and the people themselves, the country can win the war on Covid-19.
Kaya nating talunin ito,” he added.
Meanwhile, Moreno said occupancy rate in the city’s six district hospitals as of January 21 is at 28% with 139 out of 494 beds currently occupied by patients.
“At good news, 28% ang ating occupancy rate sa ating mga ospital, ang ating anim na ospital at nasa 30% lamang ang occupancy rate sa Covid-19 Field Hospital ngayon,” he said.
To ensure the safety of the public from Covid-19 especially those who remain unvaccinated, the 47-year-old presidential aspirant stressed that they will continue to conduct non-stop vaccination not only to Manileños but also to people from other places.
“Basta tayo, magpapabakuna, magpapabakuna, magpapabakuna 24/7. But at the end of the day, you have to decide kasi you have to be responsible to others.
“We are going to vaccinate a lot of people. We will continue the goal. We will not be confused of any other things. Vaccination is the solution,” he stressed.
As of 6 p.m. of Jan. 21, the MHD and MEOC reported that City of Manila has already administered 3,169,925 vaccine doses. The total individuals vaccinated is now at 1,677,592 while the total individuals fully vaccinated is now 1,535,223.
Mayor Isko’s highly successful Luneta drive-thru booster shot facility is part of his aggressive and innovative campaign “to protect as many people as possible, in as many ways possible, and in the shortest time possible to prevent possible deaths” amid the Omicron surge in the country.
Aside from the Luneta facility, the city government has also set up a drive-thru booster shot facility for motorcycle and bicycle riders at the Kartilya ng Katipunan, and a similar facility for tricycle, pedicab, kuliglig, and jeepney drivers at the Bagong Ospital ng Maynila.
These are on top of the continuing vaccinations in community health centers, designated schools and malls across the city, and on-site booster shots for construction workers in all ongoing city government projects in Manila.
