MANILA, Philippines — The pilot implementation of the face-to-face classes amid the coronavirus pandemic was “highly successful,” Education Secretary Leonor Briones said in the taped weekly “Talk to the People” with President Rodrigo Duterte that aired late Monday night.

Briones said 287 schools participated in the pilot implementation from Nov. 15 to Dec. 22.

According to her, students, teachers, and parents reported a “high level of feeling of safety” while participating in face-to-face classes.

Moreover, she said that students and parents had “high satisfaction levels” in the implementation of health and safety protocols.

There was also a “high level of confidence” to expand and continue limited face-to-face classes, Briones said.

Briones also recommended to Duterte a “progressive expansion” of limited face-to-face classes by February in which only vaccinated teaching and non-teaching staff will be allowed to participate.
