Security plan all set for Arroyo’s visit to Iggy wake
MANILA, Philippines—Police have conducted a dry-run on the security plan for the safe travel of former president Gloria Macapagal Arroyo Thursday from her detention room at a government-run hospital in Quezon City to the wake of Negros Occidental Representative Iggy Arroyo.
Police Security Protection Group (PSPG) director, Chief Superintendent Lina Sarmiento said the dry-run on the security plan for the former president’s travel from the Veterans Memorial Medical Center to La Vista Subdivision in Quezon City went well, with PSPG members providing close-in security for her.
The Traffic Management Group and Metropolitan Manila Development Authority will help in traffic management while the security officials from the Quezon Police District will provide route, area and crowd security, Sarmiento said.
She also said authorities have coordinated with the home owner’s association of La Vista Subdivision and its security personnel.
Judge Jesus Mupas of Branch 112 of the Regional Trial Court of Pasay City earlier granted Arroyo an eight-hour furlough to attend the wake of her brother-in-law from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday if his remains arrive from London later Wednesday.
