OFW found dead in Pasay quarantine facility
MANILA, Philippines — A 40-year-old overseas Filipino worker (OFW) who allegedly committed suicide was found dead inside his room at a quarantine facility in Pasay City on Monday.
Investigation showed that the OFWs came from Papua New Guinea and arrived at the facility on Jan. 2.
A staff member of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (Owwa) and a Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) duty marshal tried to contact the worker by phone to inform him that his relatives had delivered groceries for him, but the victim did not answer.
The Owwa staff and PCG marshal then went to the victim’s room and knocked on the door several times but got no response. After forcibly opening the door, they found his body inside the bathroom.
