Comelec Mandaue launches off-site registration for PWDs
THE Commission on Elections (Comelec) Mandaue City office kicks off its off-site voters registration for persons with disabilities (PWDs) on March 10.
City Comelec Registrar Fleur Gujilde said this activity will be done on Saturdays until June this year. She said the early announcement would benefit PWDs since processing would be done near their communities.
Off-site registration will also be held at the Mandaue City Jail and the City Social Welfare Service Office.
Even senior citizens and walk-in registrants will be accommodated, Gujilde said.
She said the Comelec office at the Mandaue City Sports Center can handle 200 registrants a day. Mandaue City had 182,000 registered voters in the 2010 elections. Dujilde said the number went down after Comelec deleted some names due to the failure of registrants to vote two successive elections while some voters were already dead. Correspondent Norman V.
