‘Odette’ maintains strength as it moves toward Caraga-Eastern Visayas

MANILA, Philippines — Typhoon “Odette,” is still on track to make landfall in the vicinity of Surigao Province or the southern portion of Eastern Visayas on Thursday afternoon, said the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration’s (Pagasa).

In Pagasa’s latest storm advisory, the eye or the center of “Odette” is now located 535 kilometers (km) east of Surigao City, Surigao Del Norte or 445 km east of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur, as of 7 p.m.

It has also maintained its strength as it currently carries maximum sustained winds of 130 km per hour (kph) and gusts of up 160 kph as it moves westward at 20 kph.

The state weather bureau said damaging gale to storm-force winds are expected within the next 24 hours in these areas under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 2:
