Sara Duterte names six Senate aspirants she’ll support in 2022 polls
MANILA, Philippines — Vice presidential aspirant and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio has named six Senate aspirants she will support personally for the 2022 national elections.
In a press conference in Davao City on Tuesday, Duterte-Carpio included the following in her Senate slate:
- former secretary Harry Roque
- former senator Jinggoy Estrada
- former Public Works secretary Mark Villar
- former Defense secretary Gibo Teodoro
- former Quezon City mayor Herbert Bautista
- former senator Loren Legarda
(First is secretary, and soon to be senator Harry Roque. Next is former senator Jinggoy Estrada, who is part of the alliance of Lakas-CMD and Hugpong ng Pagbabago, who promises to craft laws for the masses. Next is the person whom President Duterte entrusted his Build, Build, Build program, soon to be senator Mark Villar.)

(I have friends running for senator, but to be clear, the UniTeam has no senatorial slate yet as of now because Bongbong Marcos has not yet announced his list, but I have friends running for the post and I will bring them with me because they are my friends.)
Duterte-Carpio did not initially mention his father, President Rodrigo Duterte as her preferred senatorial aspirants, but said that he would definitely be at the top of her list.
However, the Davao City Mayor’s list may change as Duterte on Tuesday afternoon went to the Commission on Elections (Comelec) to formally withdraw his certificate of candidacy.
