2 fishermen missing

TUGUEGARAO CITY — Two fishermen were declared missing Sunday, two days after they went fishing on December 10 off Calayan in Cagayan, the Coast Guard Northeast Luzon Station said.

Declared missing were Dominador Tangonan, 46, and Rex Antonio, 25, who went fishing off Didicas island at 3 a.m. onboard their motorbanca MB Madonna.

Despite heavy rains and strong winds, the two still ventured out to sea. They are now believed to be marooned in one of the islands.

The fishermen are feared to have run out of fuel or have suffered damage to their boat.

A gale warning was issued on Friday by the state weather bureau with 2.8-meter to five-meter-high waves affecting waters off eastern Luzon.
