Bulacan tops target after 3-day nat’l COVID-19 vax drive

CITY OF MALOLOS—Bulacan province has surpassed its target of 182,902 people during the recent three-day national vaccination drive, an official said Thursday, Dec. 2

Dr. Hjordis Marushka Celis, Bulacan COVID-19 task force vice-chair, said 199,613 Bulacan residents were inoculated against the viral disease from Nov. 29 to Dec. 1.

The high turnout was achieved when the vaccination sites in Bulacan’s 21 towns and three cities accommodated many “walk-ins” until the evening.

At the Bulacan Vaccination Center in Hiyas Pavilion inside the Capitol Compound in this city, healthcare workers accommodated residents until 11 p.m., Celis told the Inquirer.

On Wednesday, the last day of the nationwide rollout, a total of 101,296 were vaccinated.

Records also showed that 51,788 residents were vaccinated on Tuesday and 46,529 on Monday.

Pfizer vaccines were given to 12 to 17-year-old residents, while Sinovac and AstraZeneca were administered to adults.

Gov. Daniel Fernando urged unvaccinated residents to get their jabs on the second national vaccination drive on Dec. 15, 16, and 17, as announced by National Task Force Chief Implementer and vaccine czar Secretary Carlito Galvez during his visit here Tuesday.
