No suspects yet in killing of CamSur radioman–police

MANILA, Philippines — Authorities have yet to determine who killed radio broadcaster Romeo Olea in Camarines Sur last Monday, Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Director General Raul Bacalzo said Wednesday.

“So far we have not really identified the suspects (but) the task force investigating (Olea’s murder) is working on solving the case,” said the PNP chief. He stated that the director of police in region 5 has told him of developments in a recent phone call.

“The regional director has told me about developments (in the case and said that) they were following up on some leads… We really have to go through it slowly.”

Olea, 49, was a radio commentator on dzEB-FM in Camarines Sur. He was killed while driving his motorcycle to work at past 5 a.m. Monday in Iriga City, Camarines Sur. He was rushed to the Rinconada Medical Center was pronounced dead on arrival.

The National Union of Journalists in the Philippines said that Olea was the sixth killed under President Benigno Aquino III’s watch.
