Comelec eyes holding 2nd voting simulation
MANILA, Philippines — The Commission on Elections (Comelec) is looking at holding another voting simulation after the low voter turnout during the first activity in October, the poll body’s spokesperson James Jimenez said Thursday.
“Pinagpaplanuhan pa kung magkakaroon ng isa pang (We are still looking at whether there will be another) voting simulation, and I think there are some places being considered for a location in case ma-approve ‘yung second simulation (the second simulation will be approved), ”Jimenez said in a press conference.
The Comelec earlier held a voting simulation at the San Juan Elementary School in San Juan City on October 23. However, only 11 percent of the over 4,000 test voters have participated in the activity.
“That was very low but again this is not expected to be a high attendance event in any case because typically Filipinos have not really bothered to attend simulation exercises,” Jimenez earlier said.
The voting hours for the May 2022 elections will be from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m., which can be extended depending on the number of voters, according to the poll body.
