Tingog Party-list nominee Karla Estrada urges TUPAD beneficiaries to make good use of gov’t aid

CAPOOCAN, Leyte — Tingog Party-list nominee and popular actress-singer Karla “Mamshie” Estrada has urged more than 200 beneficiaries of Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) program in this province to make good use of the government’s assistance.

Estrada, the very proud mother of actor and recording artist Daniel Padilla, underscored the importance for the beneficiaries of the Department of Labor and Employment’s (DoLE) program under the leadership of Sec. Silvestre “Bebot” Bello III to effectively use the cash aid to gradually recover from the adverse economic impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.

While leading TUPAD’s payout at the town’s largest barangay (Lemon) here, Estrada also expressed Tingog’s deep gratitude to Bello for the trust and confidence entrusted to the party-list group led by Rep. Yedda Marie K. Romualdez, chairperson of the House Committee on the Welfare of Children.

She stressed that Tingog has been always the government’s major partner in mitigating the impact of the pandemic and prevent further serious disruption in the delivery of help to the most vulnerable sector.

Estrada said Tingog has also been at the forefront of the administration’s mission to reduce COVID-19’s lingering consequences on the socio-economic well being of Filipinos by delivering their needs and providing other forms of relief.

Pio Loay, a 63-year-old beneficiary, became emotional and expressed his appreciation to Tingog for making its presence felt here through programs that provide loads of opportunities that will directly benefit them.

Loay assured Romualdez, Estrada and Tingog party-list group that he will use the cash assistance under TUPAD program to meet the needs of his family in this very trying time.

Estrada reiterated her message in previous Tingog events in Region VIII that Tingog will work hard in partnership with DoLE to expand the cash-for-work program for displaced workers in Eastern Visayas.

TUPAD is a community-based package of assistance that provides emergency employment for displaced workers, underemployed and seasonal workers, for a minimum period of 10 days, but not to exceed a maximum of 30 days, depending on the nature of work to be performed.
