No more curfew in Manila

MANILA, Philippines — The city of Manila officially lifted the curfew on November 4, Thursday.

Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso made the announcement in a live briefing earlier in the day.

“Ngayon po mga kababayan lifted na ang curfew sa Maynila (today, the curfew in Manila has been lifted), effective Nov. 4,” said Moreno.

However, the mayor reminded residents to maintain discipline even though COVID-19 restrictions have been relaxed.

“Pero, makikisuyo lang, sa unti unti nating natutupad na magnormalize kayo… maging responsable tayo,” the mayor said.

(But, please, as we gradually fulfill your normalization… let’s be responsible)

“Wag niyo na intindihin ‘yung face shield ang intindihin niyo may face mask, social distancing, and discipline, ‘yun lang,” Moreno added.

(Don’t mind the face shields, just make sure that you have a face mask, social distancing, and discipline, that’s all.)

A proposal to lift the face shield use policy has already been made to the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) on Emerging Infectious Diseases by Interior Secretary Eduardo Año.

Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Chairman Benhur Abalos first announced that the curfew in Metro Manila would be lifted on November 4.

Before this, the curfew in Metro Manila was set from midnight to 4 a.m.
