P40K worth of fake cigarettes seized in Zambales

Fake cigars seized in Zambales

SAN ANTONIO, Zambales––At least P40,000 worth of counterfeit cigarettes were confiscated Wednesday from two suspects in Sta. Cruz town, police said.

Col. Romano Cardiño, provincial police director, said 247 rims of assorted cigarettes, such as Two Moon and Mighty, were seized around 8: 30 p.m. during the operation in Barangay Tubo-Tubo South.

The arrested suspects were Lino Medel, 41, and Rosepel Pormento, 33, of Pangasinan province.

Cardiño said the operation was carried out after placing the area and the suspects under surveillance.

The suspects will be charged with violating the Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines (selling and transporting suspected fake/counterfeit cigarettes).
