Drivers now required to take driver’s education upon license renewal – LTO
MANILA, Philippines — All drivers seeking to renew their license will now be required to acquire a certification from the Comprehensive Driver’s Education (CDE) starting Oct. 28, said the Land Transportation Office (LTO).
“Ang lahat ng magrerenew ay kailangang dumaan sa Comprehensive Driver’s Education (CDE) upang matanggap nila ang kanilang CDE Certificate,” said LTO in a recent advisory.
(All renewers must go through Comprehensive Driver’s Education (CDE) in order to receive their CDE Certificate.)
This is according to a provision in Republic Act (RA) 10930 which will be first implemented in the Central Office-Licensing Section and the Quezon City Licensing Center (QCLC) starting Oct. 28.
“Susundanito sa iba pang mga opisina sa National Capital Region sa ika-3 Nobyembre, 2021,” said LTO.
(It will be followed by other offices in the National Capital Region on November 3, 2021.)
The LTO then added that the start date for all areas outside the NCR will be announced at a later date.
Apart from the CDE certification, drivers may now also apply for a 10-year Driver’s License renewal if they do not have a traffic violation record, meanwhile, those who do can only apply for a 5-year renewal.
The CDE materials can be obtained either from the LTO Portal’s website, at LTO offices or at LTO-Accredited Driving Schools.
Meanwhile, in a separate advisory, the LTO also said that the validity of all Student Permits, Driver’s Licenses and Conductor’s Licenses set to expire in the month of October will be extended until Dec. 31 “in consideration of the existing Quarantine Restrictions in the country.”
