350 villagers in Zambales town gain from cash-for-work program of DSWD

SAN ANTONIO, Zambales––Residents of San Marcelino town in Zambales province have benefited from the cash-for-work program of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

Sahra Soria, head of the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office, said 350 residents participated in community gardening and tree planting as part of DSWD’s risk resiliency program under climate change adaptation.

The beneficiaries from 18 villages of San Marcelino received P3,150 each in exchange for 10 days of work.

Soria said the cash-for-work program was designed to help communities find a source of livelihood amid the pandemic, which displaced many workers. INQ
