388 ex-rebels in Central Luzon get over P26M aid from gov’t

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — At least 388 communist rebels in Central Luzon who have yielded to the government since 2018 have received P26.113 million to start their lives anew, a report obtained by the INQUIRER on Thursday showed.
The immediate and livelihood assistance given to 230 New People’s Army regular fighters and 158 militias amounted to P17.320 million, according to a report of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), which managed and disbursed the funds of the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP) in Central Luzon.
The so-called reintegration assistance released to the 338 ex-fighters totalled P8.148 million while those who surrendered arms took another P645,000, the report said.
For the E-CLIP, the DILG has a joint memorandum circular with the Department of National Defense. The intention to surrender is processed and validated by the Task Force Balik Project.
