PH logs154 new COVID-19 deaths — DOH

The Department of Health (DOH) reported on Thursday additional 154 deaths due to COVID-19 complications, which raised the current death count to 40,221.

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health (DOH) reported on Thursday additional 154 deaths due to COVID-19 complications, which raised the current death count to 40,221.

According to the DOH, 113 of the deaths occurred in October, 38 were in September, and three happened in August.

Sixty-three of the patients who died were from Central Luzon, 20 were from Calabarzon, 19 from Metro Manila, 12 from Western Visayas, nine from Cagayan Valley, seven each from the Cordillera Administrative Region and Central Visayas, five from Bicol, three each from Caraga and Davao Region, two each from Mimaropa and Eastern Visayas, and one each were from Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao and Zamboanga Peninsula.

The DOH reported 273 fatalities on Saturday, 119 on Sunday, 36 on Monday, 263 on Tuesday, and 173 deaths on Wednesday.

Since the pandemic started, the Philippines has so far detected 2,698,232 COVID-19 cases, of which 40,221 have led to deaths.

The country still has 84,850 active cases of the disease as of Thursday. Of the active cases, 77.2 percent are mild, 10.6 percent are asymptomatic, 7.01 percent are moderate, 3.6 percent are severe, and 1.5 percent are critical.

At present, 65 percent of intensive care unit beds, 51 percent of isolation beds and ward beds, and 48 percent of ventilators are currently being used, according to DOH.
