Negros Occidental board hails physician exam topnotcher

BACOLOD CITY––The Sangguniang Panlalawigan passed Tuesday a resolution commending a La Carlota City resident for bringing pride and honor to Negros Occidental by topping the September 2021 Physician Licensure Examination.

Maria Inez Sellado Benedicto, 26, topped the September 2021 Physician Licensure Examination with a rating of 87.83 percent, the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) announced Friday, Sept. 24.

“Her hard work, determination, dedication to her profession, and desire to serve her fellow Negrosanons is an inspiration to all of us and to future doctors who seek to do the same,” the resolution said.

Benedicto has been a consistent honor student and achiever since her elementary days.

She graduated as class valedictorian at PAX Catholic College in La Carlota City, was a Bachelor of Science and Medical Technology magna cum laude graduate at the University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos in Bacolod City, and a College of Medicine valedictorian at the Western Visayas State University in Iloilo.

She was also the 7th placer in the September 2015 Medical Technology Licensure Examination.
