8 more elderly die from COVID-19 in Olongapo

OLONGAPO CITY—Eight more elderly residents here have died from COVID-19 complications, raising to 255 the city’s death toll, local data showed Tuesday, Sept. 28.

The latest to succumb to the viral disease were 64 to 88 years old, who had ailments when they contracted the virus.

The local COVID-19 task force said 17 new infections were added Tuesday to the city’s growing data.

But its active cases dropped to 695 from 745 the previous day, after 59 more virus-infected patients were cleared Tuesday of the disease.

The city’s infections have risen to 5,057 since the pandemic struck last year.
