COVID-19 death toll in Ilocos Norte jumps to 333

/ 11:49 AM September 20, 2021

LAOAG CITY––Ilocos Norte reported 51 more COVID-19 deaths over the weekend, raising the province’s death toll to 333, according to the provincial government on Sunday, Sept. 19.

But the high number of new deaths in the past two days included those patients who died of COVID-19 from July to August, it said.

The province’s COVID-19 death toll tally depends on the “timely submission of certificates of death by concerned parties, which confirms that COVID-19 is the cause of their passing,” the provincial government said.

Health authorities also noted a slow COVID-19 transmission, citing a drop in its weekly average caseload to 90 cases from Sept. 10 to 17 from 112.1 from Sept. 3 to 9.

Ilocos Norte has logged 17,371 COVID-19 patients, including 1,509 active infections and 15,529 recoveries.
