ITCZ to bring scattered rains, cloudy skies over southern part of PH

MANILA, Philippines — Isolated rains would be felt over Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao due to the prevailing intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) in the area, state meteorologists said on Friday afternoon.

Weather updates from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) showed that the scattered rain showers would be felt from Friday night to Saturday morning, adding that no other weather disturbance is expected throughout the weekend.

Pagasa also said that the low-pressure area (LPA) being monitored east of Eastern Samar had dissipated already.

Because of the ITCZ, areas over southern Luzon can expect colder than usual weather for Saturday, like Puerto Princesa’s case, which would have temperatures of 24 to 30 degrees Celsius and Tagaytay with 22 to 30 degrees.

In other parts of Luzon, weather would be generally fair, with Tuguegarao having temperatures of 24 to 33 degrees Celsius, Laoag with 25 to 32 degrees, Baguio with 16 to 23 degrees, Metro Manila with 24 to 32 degrees, and Legazpi with 25 to 33 degrees.

Isolated rains may also occur in Visayas and Mindanao, with Iloilo and Cebu having temperatures of 24 to 30 degrees Celsius, Tacloban with 25 to 31 degrees, Zamboanga and Davao with 24 to 32 degrees, and Cagayan de Oro with 24 to 31 degrees.

No gale warning has been raised as of now but Pagasa reminded fisherfolk and small boat operators that sea condition over the northern and eastern waters of Luzon, along with the seas surrounding Eastern Visayas would be moderate.

Sea conditions for the rest of the country would be slight to moderate.
