LAOAG CITY — La Union province Gov. Francisco Emmanuel “Pacoy” Ortega III announced on Thursday (Sept. 9) that he tested positive for SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19.
Ortega said he is already under isolation and has directed his team to immediately start contact tracing operations and other necessary measures.
The governor said he had visited some towns in the province in the past seven days but assured that health protocols were strictly followed.
He said that he is only experiencing minor COVID-19 symptoms and generally feels well.
“My case goes to show that no one is exempted from contracting the virus. That is why I ask everyone to remain careful and keep their guards up all the time,” Ortega said. INQ
