CIS Friendship Cup rescheduled to March

THE CEBU International School (CIS) Friendship Cup, which was slated for this weekend at the school’s football field in Pit-os, Cebu City, has been cancelled.

Tournament director David Ricketts said the field has been very muddy as a result of constant rains last week and this week.

He added that with more rains forecasted for the next few days, the field will still be unplayable.

Because of this, they decided that the tournament be rescheduled to March 24 and 25 instead.

The event is organized to help promote the grassroots development of football in Cebu.

The CIS Friendship Cup is a festival of football tournament with 7-a-side and 5-a-side matches.

There will be 12 age categories to be contested.

Players 8 and 10 will have the 5-a-side matches while the rest of the categories will have the 7-a-side.

This tournament is sanctioned by the Cebu Football Association. /CORRESPONDENT MARS G. ALISON
