5 senior citizens die of COVID-19 in Olongapo City

OLONGAPO CITY––Five elderly residents in the city were the latest to succumb to COVID-19 complications, local data showed on Sunday (Aug. 22).

The fatalities, 74 to 87 years old, raised to 190 the city’s COVID-19 death toll based on the latest local task force tracker.

At least 30 new infections were added to the city’s COVID-19 data on the same day, pushing to 497 its active cases. The new patients are from 11 of the city’s 17 villages.

The same data showed that 13 virus-infected residents were cleared on Sunday of the virus, increasing the city’s total recoveries to 2,872. These reflect an 80-percent recovery rate, which dropped from 82 percent the previous week.
