/ 04:32 AM August 23, 2021

MANILA, Philippines — Mandaluyong has imposed a granular lockdown on an area in Barangay San Jose after it noted “an alarming surge” in COVID-19 cases, particularly in parts of Sitio Dos.

Under Executive Order No. 45, the area from the Sitio Dos entry point until the fourth house after the FPJES building was placed on lockdown until Sept. 2 to allow City Hall to conduct contact tracing and swab testing of residents.

During the lockdown, residents in the area will not be permitted to leave their homes.

The city government will provide them with food and other basic necessities. Barangay San Jose had 31 active cases on Saturday from only 10 cases on Aug. 15.
