Village chief slain in Northern Samar

ORMOC CITY—Five unidentified armed men shot dead Wednesday the village chief of Barangay Victory in Las Navas, Northern Samar.

Lt. Ariel Baldoza said Nilo Loyugoy, 53, was talking to his neighbors when the five armed men came.

The armed men asked Loyugoy to have a minute with them. However, after several minutes, an explosion was heard.

Residents rushed to the area and found Loyugy bathed in his blood.

Baldoza said the victim did not receive any death threat before the shooting incident.
