3 COVID-19 facilities in Zambales now fully occupied

SAN ANTONIO, Zambales––Three of the five COVID-19 isolation facilities in this province have reached their full capacity, data from the Department of Health showed on Thursday, Aug. 19.

The 25 beds dedicated to COVID-19 in Candelaria town’s district hospital were occupied, as well as the nine beds in the Sta. Cecilia Medical Center in Iba town, and the 46 beds in the Allied Care Experts Medical Center-Baypointe, Inc. inside the Subic Bay Freeport.

The DOH said the President Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Hospital (PRMMH) in Iba is at a critical level with only 10 left out of its 169 beds. PRMMH is the main quarantine facility in the province.

In San Marcelino town, the district hospital was still at a safe level as only six of its 50 beds were occupied.

To date, the province has reported 5,131 COVID-19 infections, 641 active cases, 4,343 recoveries, and 147 deaths.

Health officials were monitoring 382 suspected cases as of Wednesday.

At least 45 more cases of COVID-19 were registered Wednesday, raising the total number of people sick with coronavirus to 641.

Dr. Noel Bueno, provincial health director, said the youngest of the new patients is a 10-month-old girl, who has been suffering from diarrhea, fever, coughs, and colds.

Other new patients are three Navy personnel and an employee inside the Naval Education Training and Doctrine Command in San Antonio town.
