11,085 new COVID-19 cases push PH’s active infections to 105,151
MANILA, Philippines — The country’s active COVID-19 infections continue to swell Wednesday as the Department of Health (DOH) reported 11,085 new cases.
The health agency said 105,151 people in the country are currently sick of the disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus. This figure is 5.9 percent of the confirmed 1,776,495 COVID-19 cases nationwide.
According to the DOH, “the relatively low number of cases today is due to lower laboratory output last Monday.”
Additional recoveries of 11,628 patients raised the number of COVID-19 survivors in the country to 1,640,721 while the passing of 161 coronavirus-stricken individuals increased the death toll to 30,623 as of August 18.
