Pregnant woman, septuagenarian contract Delta variant in Bacolod City
BACOLOD CITY – A pregnant woman and a 71-year-old man tested positive for the highly contagious COVID-19 Delta variant in Barangays Banago and Sum-ag in this city.
Mayor Evelio Leonardia said the homes of those who contracted the coronavirus variant were placed under surgical lockdown.
“This is not a time to panic. This is time to be much more careful by complying with the basic health protocols,” he said.
City Administrator Em Ang said the two patients were infected with the Delta variant through local transmission as they do not have a history of travel.
“There is a possibility that Bacolod may have been hit by the Delta variant as early as June when it experienced a COVID-19 surge, Ang said.
