Comelec cancels voter registration in 2 Tacloban satellite sites due to COVID-19
TACLOBAN CITY – Due to the increasing number of COVID-19 infections, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) in this city has decided to cancel the voter registration in its two satellite registration sites in the city from August 14 until September 11.
The poll body, however, said the registration at the Tacloban City Comelec office which is located at the Astrodome will continue.
The Department of Health (DOH) earlier placed Tacloban City under alert level 4 due to its rising number of COVID-19 cases.
At present, Tacloban has 4,864 total COVID-19 cases. Of this number, 248 are active.
Dr. Gloria Fabrigas, city health officer, reminds the public not to be complacent and to follow the health protocols to contain the spread of the virus.

The DOH on Saturday announced that 191 new COVID-19 cases were detected in the Eastern Visayas, bringing the region’s total number of infections cases to 38,251.
