A drug suspect who was recently released from jail here is back behind bars after allegedly burning his former live-in partner to death.

SAN MIGUEL, Bulacan — A drug suspect who was recently released from jail here due to plea bargaining is back behind bars after allegedly burning his former live-in partner to death, police said on Wednesday (Aug. 11).

In a belated report, Col. Jordan Santiago, San Miguel police station chief, said suspect Emelito Vinas, 46, a resident of Barangay San Juan, was charged with arson and homicide after he set the house of Margil Aquino-Miranda, 43, on fire on Aug. 7

Investigators said Vinas learned that Miranda had just got married, prompting him to burn down the latter’s house and trapping the girl inside.

Vinas was also charged with attempted homicide after he allegedly hacked another member of Miranda’s household before torching the house.
