Will Calabarzon be placed under ECQ? Gov’t decision out Thursday
MANILA, Philippines — Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque will announce on Thursday if Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon, or collectively Calabarzon, will also be placed under enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) amid the threat of the highly feared COVID-19 Delta variant.
Roque said the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF) is set to meet on Thursday afternoon to discuss the proposal, among other issues.
“Baka ianunsyo ko na mamayang gabi dahil kinakailangan naman maghanda ‘yung mga taga-Calabarzon so as soon as there is a decision baka ianunsyo na natin,” Roque, who also serves as the IATF’s spokesperson said in a Palace briefing.
(I may announce it later tonight because residents of Calabarzon also need to prepare for it so as soon as there is a decision, maybe we will announce it.)
The national government is studying proposals to put Calabarzon under ECQ, similar to Metro Manila, which reverts to the strictest lockdown from August 6-20.
