DPWH: Quezon Avenue project to cause heavy traffic
Motorists should expect heavy traffic at the intersection of G. Araneta and Quezon Avenues in Quezon City as the government begins work next week on a P430—million interchange project, Public Works Secretary Rogelio Singson said yesterday.
Singson made the statement after he conducted an inspection of the alternate routes for motorists who would be affected by the implementation of the C-3 (G. Araneta Avenue)–Quezon Avenue Interchange Project starting on Monday.
He said the project involves the construction of a four-lane lane underpass on Quezon Avenue crossing Araneta Avenue, including the installation of submersible pumps to manage flooding and the construction of reinforced concrete box and pipe culverts.
To ensure that the flow of traffic will not be severely affected during the project which is expected to be completed within 450 days, Singson said they had mapped out a traffic management rerouting plan.
He added that two lanes each in both directions of Quezon Avenue and Araneta Avenue would be closed.
For motorists coming from Edsa and going toward Manila, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has identified 11 alternate routes, among which are: from Edsa turn right on West Avenue, turn left on Del Monte Avenue and left on A. Bonifacio Avenue, turn right on Blumentritt, left on Dimasalang all the way to Manila.
