Manila stops home quarantine, pushes isolation

/ 04:37 AM July 21, 2021

MANILA, Philippines — The city government of Manila has stopped home quarantine and would strictly enforce quarantine in a government-run isolation facility regardless if a COVID-19 patient shows mild or no symptoms of the disease.

The city made the move after the more transmissible Delta variant was detected in two residents, one of whom was an unvaccinated woman who died on June 28.

The Department of Health said the other resident again tested positive for the virus upon retest. Patients who “resist” being quarantined may be prosecuted for violating the law.
