Active COVID-19 cases in Ilocos Norte climb to 1,263
LAOAG CITY—Ilocos Norte has 118 new COVID-19 patients Sunday, bringing its active cases to 1,263, the provincial government said.
At least 129 have recovered, and two had died due to COVID-19 complications.
The province has 5,315 COVID-19 patients dating back to March 2020, of which 3,954 had recovered, while 98 had died.
The capital city of Laoag has the highest number of COVID-19 cases at 573, followed by Batac City (104), and the towns of San Nicolas (76), Bangui (72), Paoay (68), and Dingras (45).
The Mariano Marcos Memorial Hospital and Medical Center, Ilocos Norte’s primary COVID-19 referral center, had asked the public to refrain from unnecessary hospital visits.
Hospital areas, including its emergency room department and triage area, and intensive care units, were declared “red zones” for having a high probability of COVID-19 exposure.
Article continues after this advertisementIts isolation areas, such as the eastern ward and chapel block buildings, the covered court holding area, and the field hospital unit, were also classified as red zones.
