Run free, Chichi! Manila’s first ‘dog frontliner’ passes away

MANILA, Philippines — Chichi, Manila City’s first official dog frontliner, has passed away.

The Manila Public Information Office announced the passing of Chichi on Wednesday.

The dog was buried in Manila North Cemetery.

Chichi became a “dog frontliner” in Barangay 379 back in April 2020, when Manila City was under the enhanced community quarantine.

The dog always tagged along with barangay officials during their patrols, which led to her becoming an animal frontliner.

Village councilor Jeanne Ramos recalled they found stray dog Chichi in 2018.

Ramos said Chichi will be remembered as a loyal, active, and affectionate village dog frontliner.
