Manila allows walk-ins in vaccination sites anew after low turnout
MANILA, Philippines — The Manila City Government on Monday allowed walk-in appointments on all vaccination sites following a low turnout on the first day of its implementation.
Manila Mayor Isko Moreno went to Robinson Manila to check the situation. He eventually allowed walk-ins to get vaccinated upon seeing an almost empty vaccination area.
It is not yet clear, however, how long the walk-in appointments would last.
Local government said out of 28,000 allocated doses, only 4,210 have attended their appointment in 22 vaccination sites as of 3:30 pm.
When asked if there would be penalties imposed to those who failed to keep their appointments, Moreno said: “Ayaw ko na i-penalize ang tao, gusto ko unawaan na lang may mga kanya kanya dahilan and most of them economic reasons, let us just accommodate everyone.”
