MAN HURT IN CARRETA SHOOTING
A YOUNG man was wounded after he was shot by a car-riding assailant in barangay Carreta, Cebu City.
Police said the shooting could be gang-related.
The victim, Mark Joel Doble, is reportedly a member of Crips Gang.
Police said Doble was talking with friends at the side of the road past 3 a.m. yesterday when a gray sedan arrived.
The car was moving slowly when a man inside the car fired at Doble’s group.

2 MEN NABBED FOR DRUGS
TWO men were arrested by police in a drug buy-bust operation in barangay Labogon, Mandaue City yesterday afternoon.
Police said Jovan Sanchez, 27 was armed when he was arrested. His companion, Rolan Ebajo, 32, was arrested while about to escape, said police.
Around 2 p.m. yesterday, a poseur buyer bought a sachet of suspected shabu from Sanchez worth P300.
When the suspected drugs and money changed hands, police arrested Sanchez.
Police said Sanchez tried to draw gun from his waist but was overpowered by arresting policemen.
Police said Ebajo tried to run but was cornered by police.
A .22 homemade revolver with three live bullets was sezied from Sanchez.
Four more packs of suspected shabu were also recovered in his possession, said police.
Relatives of Ebajo complained that the police planted the shabu against him. They said police failed to find drugs from Ebajo when he was frisked.
The relatives said the police declared that a pack of shabu was found from Ebajo’s pokcte while they were on their way to Sanchez’s house.

CARETAKER SHOOTS MAN
A 43-YEAR-OLD man was shot and wounded by a caretaker of a construction site in barangay Tabunok, Talisay City, southern Cebu.
Alejandro Tapinid was wounded in the back.
The victim identified his assailant as Juvy Ybañez, 23, caretaker of JeAnn Square Construction.
Police arrested Ybañez in a follow-up operation at the construction site.
PO2 Roy Lofranco, investigator of the Talisay City police station, said the gun used in the shooting was not recovered as Ybañez refused to disclose where he hid the gun.
Tapinid said he went to the construction site to gather firewood when he was shot past 3 a.m. yesterday./CORRESPONDENT RHEA RUTH V. ROSELL
