SAN ANTONIO, Zambales — The coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases inside the Philippine Merchant Marine Academy (PMMA) in San Narciso town in Zambales province has ballooned to 256 with 122 new infections recorded on Saturday, June 5.

Dr. Noel Bueno, provincial health director, said Sunday that 122 cadets, aged 18 to 27, were the latest to contract the virus after an outbreak on campus that traced back to a 21-year-old male cadet on May 23.

Most of the newly infected cadets showed some symptoms of the disease and were being treated in a quarantine facility inside the academy.
