Classes, work in gov’t offices suspended in Quezon due to ‘Dante’
LUCENA CITY –– Due to the possible impact of Tropical Storm “Dante” (international name: Choi-Wan), classes in public and private schools and work in government offices in Quezon province were ordered suspended Wednesday, Gov. Danilo Suarez announced.
“ … in view of ensuring the safety of our constituents particularly students and teachers, the undersigned hereby declares the suspension of classes at pre-school, elementary and secondary levels, of public and private schools in Quezon Province on 02 June 2021,” Suarez said in his Memorandum Order No. 183.
Suarez subsequently issued Memorandum Order No. 184 that says that local governments may decide for themselves whether to declare a suspension of work in their respective localities.
“In view of ensuring the safety of our constituents, those who are affected and expected to be affected by Tropical Storm Dante may declare the suspension of work … for government employees to ensure the safety of their persons, families, and properties,” Suarez said.
However, Suarez explained that government agencies whose functions involve the delivery of basic health services, preparedness/response to disasters and calamities, and/or the performance of other vital services “shall continue with their operations and render the necessary services.”
“The suspension of work for private companies is left to the discretion of the business owners,” he stressed.
