MANILA, Philippines — The ban on light trucks on Edsa and Shaw Boulevard will again be enforced starting Monday, May 24, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said.

In an advisory on Wednesday, the MMDA said the regulation prohibits trucks with a gross capacity weight of 4,500 kilograms to traverse Edsa from Magallanes, Makati City until North Avenue, Quezon City, both northbound and southbound, from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Light trucks are also prohibited on Shaw Boulevard from Mandaluyong City to Pasig City between 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.

“The uniform light trucks ban shall be enforced from Monday to Saturday except for Sundays and holidays. A violation of the regulation carries a P 2,000 fine,” the MMDA said.

The truck ban was earlier suspended when Metro Manila was under the stricter modified enhanced community quarantine.

But starting May 15 until the end of the month, Metro Manila is back under general community quarantine with heightened restrictions.
