Village official shot dead in Basilan
ZAMBOANGA CITY, Zamboanga del Sur –– A barangay official was shot dead while he was about to enter a fast-food chain in Isabela City, Basilan province Monday, May 10.
The Isabela City police reported that Jamirun J. Amigos, chief of Barangay Marang in Sumisip town, was walking towards Jollibee for a late lunch when an unidentified suspect shot him in his head, resulting in his instantaneous death.
Amigos, also known as Jamirun Ajijon, and three others, were arrested on Jan. 28 for a case of murder based on a warrant of arrest issued by Judge Leo Jay Principe, Regional Trial Court 9th Judicial Region Branch 1 in Isabela City.
He was the primary accused in the assassination of businessman Roberto Musablin on Sept. 6, 2004.
Relatives of Musablin claimed Amigos or Ajijon had links with the Abu Sayyaf Basilan Base under subleaders Furuji Indama, Pasil Bayali, and Radzmil Jannatul.
The police also identified Ajijon as the leader of the City Hunter, a gun-for-hire group known to operate in Basilan.

The Philippine Coast Guard turned over the four suspects to the police anti-kidnapping group in their Mindanao field unit headquarters at Camp Batalla, Zamboanga City for proper deposition, but there was no mention of why they were released.
