Pagasa: Hot Saturday with possible rain showers

MANILA, Philippines — Luzon will have warm weather on Saturday while scattered rain showers are expected to occur in parts of Visayas and Mindanao, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.

Pagasa weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio said the easterlies or warm winds coming from the Pacific Ocean are affecting Luzon while the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) is affecting parts of the Visayas and Mindanao.

“Para sa araw na ito, patuloy na makakaranas ng mainit at maaliwalas na panahon sa buong Luzon. Inaasahan pa rin natin ang matinding init na panahon lalo na sa bandang tanghali at hapon,” he said in an early morning weather forecast.

(Today, we can expect hot and fair weather in Luzon, especially at noon or afternoon.)

Aurelio, however, said isolated rains due to localized thunderstorms may still occur in the afternoon or evening.

Meanwhile, the ITCZ will bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Eastern Visayas, Caraga, Northern Mindanao, Zamboanga Peninsula and the provinces of Basilan, Sulu and Tawi-Tawi.

The ITCZ is where winds coming from the northern and southern hemisphere converge, bringing clouds that cause rains in affected areas.

The rest of Visayas and Mindanao will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms.

Laoag City:  25 to 34 degrees Celsius

Tuguegarao: 25 to 36 degrees Celsius

Legazpi City: 27 to 32 degrees Celsius

Puerto Princesa City: 27 to 34 degrees Celsius

Tagaytay: 24 to 32 degrees Celsius

Kalayaan Islands: 28 to 34 degrees Celsius

Iloilo City: 27 to 33 degrees Celsius

Cebu: 26 to 33 degrees Celsius

Tacloban City: 26 to 31 degrees Celsius

Cagayan De Oro City: 24 to 32 degrees Celsius

Zamboanga City: 24 to 33 degrees Celsius

Davao City: 25 to 33 degrees Celsius
