Duterte to offer Sinas a new job – Año

MANILA, Philippines — As Police Major General Debold Sinas steps down as chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP), Interior Secretary Eduardo Año said Friday President Rodrigo Duterte would give the retiring police officer a new post.

Año made the remark at the change of command ceremony in Camp Crame, where Sinas relinquished his post as PNP chief in time for his retirement.

“Hangad naming magampanan mo pa ang mga tungkuling iyong pansamantalang naisantabi at magkaroon ka ng sariling oras para sa pamilya at iba pang bagay na nais mong gawin pero ang narinig ko noong isang gabi kay Pangulong Duterte, ikaw raw ay bibigyan ng bagong trabaho,” Año said.

Año, however, didn’t say what post Sinas would get.

Sinas was sworn in as police chief in November 2020, replacing Camilo Pancratius Cascolan.

Sinas, a graduate of the Philippine Military Academy “Hinirang” Class of 1987, has served as director of the National Capital Regional Police Office (NCRPO).

He was also the chief of the Central Visayas police.

Sinas has been in many controversies, such as holding a “mañanita” for his birthday as the coronavirus pandemic escalates.

Sinas was replaced by Lt. General Guillermo Eleazar as PNP chief.
