COVID-19 shows no sign of letting up in Olongapo, brings 31 new cases in 1 day

SAN ANTONIO, Zambales–The spread COVID-19 cases in workplaces and households continue to grip Olongapo City as it logged 31 new cases on Wednesday (May 5).

Citing local health data, Olongapo Mayor Rolen Paulino Jr. said the latest infections raised to 192 the city’s active cases.

The new patients are aged 1 to 70 and reside in 11 of the city’s 17 villages.

Paulino said many of the cases involved workers and members of the same households.

So far, Olongapo has 1,563 COVID-19 cases since 2020 and 1,299 of these were marked as recoveries.

The city did not record any deaths on Wednesday although its COVID-19 death toll has reached 72 on Tuesday.
