DOH: JRRMMC to probe conditions at QI modular hospital
MANILA, Philippines — The management of the Jose R. Reyes Memorial Medical Center (JRRMMC) in Manila will investigate the conditions of COVID-19 patients staying at the modular hospital in Quezon Institute (QI) following a complaint on the supposed lack of doctors and medications at the facility.
Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said they immediately called JRRMMC chief Dr. Emmanuel Montaña Jr. as soon as they received the letter from a COVID-19 patient relaying concerns about the supposed lack of services at the QI modular hospital.
The modular hospital at the Quezon Institute is an extension facility of JRRMMC.
“Kahapon (Yesterday) as soon as we received this report, we called Dr. Montaña,” Vergeire said in an online press briefing.
“He said he is going to investigate and will be providing us the report,” she added.
The patient, in a letter addressed to DOH Secretary Francisco Duque, said no doctor has come to visit her and her husband who is also COVID-19 positive since they were brought to the QI modular hospital on April 13. She added that no medication was given to them as well.
Vergeire said DOH will provide information on the situation of COVID-19 patients at the Quezon Institute based on the report of JRRMMC.
“Antayin po natin ‘yan at magbibigay po tayo ng impormasyon, and siguro (let us wait for that and we will give information, and maybe) the statement also would be coming from our medical center chief,” she said.
