Suspected NPA amazon arrested in Laguna

MANILA, Philippines—A suspected communist rebel leader in the Southern Tagalog region was arrested in Laguna Tuesday afternoon by operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, its chief, Police Director Samuel Pagdilao Jr., said Wednesday.

Pagdilao said that alleged New People’s Army ranking leader Annabelle Bueno (aka Ka Girlie, Fara and Lara) was arrested by the CIDG in Barangay (village) Maitim, Bay, Laguna, around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday based on a warrant of arrest for multiple attempted murder and multiple frustrated murder issued by a court in Infanta, Quezon, and multiple murder issued by a court in Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro.

Pagdilao claimed that Bueno heads the regional organizational department of the Southern Tagalog Regional Party Committee of the NPA and the Finance Executive Committee Sub-Regional Military Area-Guerilla Unit 1.—Jamie Marie Elona
